Then about the Rich getting richer, some one could start a bank to make loans only to the players, not the AI people.

I think that no matter what we need more ways to make gold.
As it is it's much easier to get expensive items then it is to get even half the value in cash.
The price of castles being what it is I find it highly unlikely that anyone but Iron will have one for a long time.

The investing in trade caravans/ships is an excellent idea, and historically accurate. The problem is that it would be random, where at least in theory a stock market should have at least a little predictability to it. As an alternative, maybe have various trade fleets out. Some fleets would be not going vary far, their yeild wouldnt be high, but the risk would be low. The other extreem would be the spice ships going half way round the world. If they make it their payback was extreem, but the chance of either losing a ship, or the spices going bad en route is higher.

This is from the castles thread in project tracking. If we could set this up as the stock market it would create a way to earn money, and bring castles one step closer to reality.


"Castles also can setup land to be given to serfs. This land starts with default values of maybe 10 for farming, mining, and trade goods. These values can be increased by the castle owner paying to add irrigation, or other upgrades. Each of these pieces of land can be taken by any player in the FMO world as a grant. These players then receive a small amount of wheat, ore, or trade goods each night based on their land value."

"There will be wheat, ore, and trade goods markets. This is where these resources can be sold by players and lords. This will act as a sort of FMO stock market as the prices will constantly fluctuate. How the prices change is yet undetermined, but will likely be based on yesterday's value, amount traded yesterday, amount in existence yesterday, amount in existence today, etc. Any items bought from or sold to the markets go to and from nothingness. So there is not a constant amount of items in the FMO world."

The castles are actually just about a reality, at least on the test server. The problem is that we need a $100 component for the pages to work correctly. There's no budget for that right now. So the holdup on the castles is mostly just a budget thing.

I would still like to have a stock market other than just the 3 main goods listed for castles though. Something a little more predictable, where research and knowledge could increase your chances of making money...though not guarantee it. Unfortunately, there's at least 2 big projects that need completed before I can work on this, so the stock market is temporarily 'on hold'.
